This time he introduced 8 South African wines which he himself had selected from personal visits to the producers. As usual, Marcel provided us with a tasty buffet. Obviously many of the 24 attenders appreciated his chosen wines by placing a substantial order of wines to be collected later.

At the Kings Coffee shop for a Mystery evening.  The evening followed a similar format as past Mystery evenings, starting with a 'Call My Bluff' description of a sparkling wine which the majority correctly guessed that Lou Warner 'told the truth' with a Chapel Down English sparkling wine.  The remaining entries were not so successful with only four correct guesses, jointly won by Monika and Pat.  As usual Marcel had prepared a varied and tasty buffet.

David had heard such a lot about how LiDL offered such a good range of budget wines that he decided to put them to the test.  5 Pairs of similar grape variety wines chosen from LiDL and Majestic were tasted 'blind' against each other (labelled A or B on the Sheet). A vote was then taken of who preferred A or B.  The results are presented here.
Surprisingly the votes were almost 50:50 between cheaper or dearer wines, with the exception of the two Rosés (cheaper preferred) and the two Riojas (dearer much preferred).
Marcel provided a tasty spread at halfway, it was good to finish the last event of a difficult year with a mince-pie and a glass of 10 year-old port.
